Summer Parks

Harrison County Parks and Recreation sponsors a summer recreation program, which provides opportunities for Harrison County children to use their summer vacation as a time of growth, learning,  and fun in a safe and wholesome environment. Daily activities include team/individual sports,  games, arts, crafts, drama and music. Special events can include carnivals, shows, tournaments, contests, special instruction.

The program is geared to  ages 6 through 15 and is operated at sp ecific sites throughout Harrison County.

Energy Express

Energy Express is an AmeriCorps summer reading program designed to help children entering grades 1-6, maintain or advance their reading levels during the summer months. EE is held five days a week for six weeks during June and July.  

There are a limited number of openings in the program each year. There is no charge for this program, and two family-style meals are served each day. The Energy Express program operates for six weeks during the summer months. Weekdays from 
8:00am - 12:30pm.

Challenger Leagues

The Jeff Wetzel Challenger Leagues provides the opportunity for other abled children to play and participate in group sport in a comfortable environment without the pressures and competition often associated with traditional sports team.

The emphasis is on fun, exercise and sportsmanship and gives siblings, peers and parents the opportunity to share the joy of a positive sporting experience.

T-ball

Harrison County Parks and Recreation sponsors a youth T-Ball league for Harrison County children ages 4-5 and 6. This is an instructional league in which the children will learn the basics of baseball. 
No scores or statistics are kept. 

Registration typically begins near the end of April and the league runs from June through late July or early August.

once dates are announced.

Youth Basketball

Harrison County Parks and Recreation sponsors a Youth Basketball league for Harrison County children. We have two classifications, 5-6 years  and 7-8 years of age.  This is an instructional (non-competitive) league in which the children will learn the basics of basketball.
 No scores or statistics are kept. 

Registration typically begins late Oct. - Mid-Nov.  and league runs from late November through late February

Annual Competitions

Harrison County Parks & Recreation hosts several sporting events throughout the year in cooperation with KofC #872, including Punt Pass & Kick, Soccor Challenge 
and Free Throw Qualifier. 

Local winners may have opportunity to advance to next level competition in some instances. 

Participation in these programs 
are free of charge.
